ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Liverpool have been pursuing the Bournemouth star for some time as they seek to bolster their left-back options. And while the Scottish international is not getting any younger at 31, he made it clear he will fight for his spot, whether or not they sign the Hungarian.

WHAT ROBERTSON SAID
"We're not daft, it looks as if a deal could potentially be done," Robertson told BBC Scotland, when asked about the Kerkez rumours. "But, until that is done, I've not even given that a second thought. I back myself. I've got confidence in my own ability and that drives me forward. I've had eight fantastic years at Liverpool in terms of winning trophies and being a mainstay in the team, which I'm incredibly proud of. I'm not getting any younger. I can't change my age, but I still believe I've got a lot to give and that's what I focus on. I focus on myself – you can't focus on other people or who you're competing with."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
After winning the Premier League title, speculation has mounted that Robertson, among other Liverpool players, could be sold or lose their place in the starting lineup as new transfers are sought for next season. But the Reds legend is refusing to throw in the towel and seems to welcome the possibility of competing with Kerkez for a starting spot under head coach Arne Slot.

WHAT NEXT?
If Kerkez is signed, that could be the end of the line for fellow left-back Kostas Tsimikas at Liverpool. The 21-year-old Cherries ace could cost £45 million ($61m), therefore, the Greek could be sold to help the Merseyside outfit's coffers.
