As the 25-year-old midfielder only has a year left to run on his contract at Serie A giants Juventus, the expectation is that an exit door will swing open in Turin this summer. McKennie has already been mooted as a possible makeweight in Juve’s bid to prise Brazil international Douglas Luiz away from Aston Villa.

McKennie may, however, shun admiring glances from England entirely, with claiming that he has received an offer from ambitious FC Cincinnati. The terms on the table are said to be worth as much as $15 million (£12m), with several other MLS teams now monitoring his situation.

McKennie, who is currently on USMNT duty at the Copa America, has never played in MLS as he left the academy system at FC Dallas before making a senior breakthrough. He has impressed in Europe for Schalke and Juve, with the 2023-24 campaign proving to be particularly productive as he made 38 appearances and posted a career-best return of 10 assists.
